Cannot access pulptunes outside of home network
« on: June 17, 2009, 06:24:27 PM »

I have set everything up and forwarded the port 15000. One weird quirk with my network is that I have a dsl modem/router connected to a linksys router that is connected to my computer. Because my other computer uses a wireless adapter and will only connect to the linksys router so I have to use both. But they are both set up to allow the ports and it works within my home network.

I used the ip address found from whatismyip.org followed by the port #, but no luck connecting outside of the network. Please help.

If that modem is really a router (i.e. you can plug more than one machine to it), then you need to configure it as well. Have it forward port 15000 to the IP it assigns to the linksys. And then configure the linksys to forward port 15000 to the IP of the machine where you have installed pulpTunes. Check portforward.com for the setup instructions for the modem and the linksys. I think you'll need to plug directly into the modem to be able to configure it. If you're not familiar with port forwarding setup, the best would be to temporary disconnect the modem or the linksys, and make sure you can have it work separately.

Cheers
