G4 PPC
« on: June 13, 2010, 06:43:25 PM »

Hey,

I discovered pulptunes just a few days ago and i really love it, thanks for making such a great web interface.

Now i only have a problem, i have a mac mini that i use as a server. Things like apache/mysql, ventrillo and some other things, now i got pulptunes 1.1 working but i can't get 1.2 and 1.3 working on my G4.

I looked this up and it seems that i need java 1.6, the problem is Apple doesn't provide a 1.6 version for ppc.
Is there a work around for this? So i cant still use 1.3 with iPhone support or is 1.3 intel only?

Mac Mini G4 (PPC/1,42ghz 1gb ram)
Running Leopard 10.5.8
current java version

Also, are there coming custom skins to pulptunes? and maybe an iPhone app?

Thanks for this beautiful webserver.

Hi Panda,

Thanks for the kind words :)

Unfortunately we only support java 6. You can try using Soylatte, I remember having used it successfully for pulpTunes in the past. Regarding the iPhone, I'm working on a much better interface, web based, no need to install an app.

Cheers,
Alejandro

Another quick quistion, how can i start pulpTunes as a root user?

Open the Terminal app, log-in as the root user with the "su" command, enter the root user password, and then call pulpTunes through the Terminal, as explained in this article:
http://www.pulptunes.com/support/index.php?fuse=knowledgebase&view=KB_viewArticle&articleId=11&public=1

... although I bet there is a better, GUI-based way of doing this, maybe some googling can help.

So i installed OpenJDK 7 for ppc, when i type java -version it gives me java version 1.7.0

And they onlu option is to run 1.2.0 via terminal, Works great but how can i change the port? because the gui doesn't come up.

And is v1.3.0 intel only?

The program is dependent on the java version only, not the processor. So you're having problems running 1.3 from the terminal? what seems to be the problem?
