Server only (no iTunes) installation?
« on: June 11, 2010, 05:55:28 PM »

Is it possible to install the pulpTunes server on an MS box that does NOT have iTunes installed. I have a Windows Home Server (Windows Server 2003) and would like to stream my iTunes files. I'm not concerned about updating play counts or ratings. Is it possible to host just the server app and the music files without installing iTunes?

Thanks!

Yes it's possible. You just need to have an appropriate iTunes XML file with all the music info. Take a look at this article

it talks about linux, but the same principles apply.
